Motlamma cuts niche in laundry business

Government often encourages graduates to explore various business avenues as opposed to looking to the private and public sectors for employment.
Ms Kitsego Motlamma has heeded the sage advice. After graduating with a certificate in travel and tourism and gaining experience in the housekeeping section of a hotel, she purchased laundry machines with her personal savings.
Consequently, Nick Laundry and Cleaning Services started operating last November behind the BotswanaPost office. The business offers laundry and cleaning services that included office and home cleaning.
Ms Motlamma said customers who could not bring their laundry for cleaning had an option to call her to pick it up and deliver it after cleaning. She said her customers highly appreciated the service.
She said Palapye was a fast growing village with a need for proper laundry and cleaning services to meet the needs of the residents and visitors. Her business’ targeted clientele include hotels, lodges, guest houses and government.
Ms Motlamma planned to expand her business into branches across the country in the future. She, however, said funding was still a challenge, and she was looking to financial institutions such as CEDA for funding.
Nick Laundry and Cleaning Services was already giving back to the Palapye community. The business has adopted House of Hope, a school for orphaned children. It cleaned the school’s blankets for free.
“Our mission goes beyond commerce. We want to help the less priviledged. Through this initiative, we want to heed the President’s call to help the disadvantaged in our communities,” he says. ENDS
