Francistown DC drums up support for Ntobedzi

Francistown district commissioner, Ms Cordelia Mpape, has appealed to the city's residents to rally behind a Motswana finalist on Global Innovation Awards.
Speaking to the media recently, Ms Mpape said people should vote for Eunice Ntobedzi, adding that the Francistown leadership supported her because they believed that by doing so they would be encouraging more innovators in the country.
She said one of the city’s vision pillars centred on innovation, was to appreciate the innovators, support and reward them. She said Ms Ntobedzi’s creativity was the right step towards the attaining the vision of the city. Ms Mpape said she was optimistic that with more innovators such as Ms Ntobedzi, Francistown would become Botswana Innovation Hub in the northern region.
Ms Ntobedzi said her project named “Empowered” is based on bringing a solution to the country’s shortage of electricity using renewable solar PV technology in particular that the country has natural sunshine resource.
Which is not fully utilized? The deputy town clerk, Mr Robert Letlole said since the city already has innovation that represent the country as whole the Botswana Innovation Hub need to set up an office in Francistown in order to encourage more young innovators. Ms Ntobedzi can be voted on http://bit.ly/1IBUOdKand voting closes on June 11.
She said selection for the top 30 will be on June 15 and selected participants will be awarded in July in Nairobi. The Global Innovation Awards is aim at recognizing the most innovative start-ups outside the EU that bring new technologies, products or services to the market. Ends
