IEC to re-establish polling district - Moribame

08 Jun 2015

Bobirwa Sub-district chairperson, Mr Nathaniel Moribame, says the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) would soon re-establish a polling district in the area.

Speaking during the sub council session recently, Mr Moribame said the process would be conducted between July and October. He said relevant people and politicians would be consulted about the exercise.

Mr Moribame, who is also councillor for Molalatau, said the exercise would not affect the existing boundaries.

He also informed councillors that the 20 km Bobonong access roads and the 30 km storm water drainage constructed by Zac construction was at 69 per cent complete and one week behind schedule.

Other construction works such as dry grading of roads that links villages were going well. As for the Platjan border post bridge construction project, he said tender documents were opened on May 4 and would run up to June 4.

The councillor also highlighted that the equipping of four boreholes had been completed and such would help address acute water shortage in the area.

He said the Water Utilities Corporation was awaiting funds for the transformers to power such boreholes.

Mr Moribame was however concerned about some people who indiscriminately throw litter such nappies around Thune Dam, saying it was a health hazard.

He pleaded with people in the area to protect the environment. ENDS
