Leading companies in the mining and related industries are lined to participate at the second Electra Mining exhibition to be held at the Gaborone Fairgrounds from 1-3 September.
A press release from the organisers, Soapbox communications director, Ms Vuyiswa Mojela, says the profile of the exhibitors includes industrial engineers, manufacturing, electrical engineers, construction, materials handling and safety, health and environment.
The exhibition is a joint venture between locally based Soapbox Communications and South Africa’s Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery.
Exhibitors at the Electra Mining Botswana include Joy Global (Africa), Verda Pumps, Filtration Africa, Air Liquide Botswana, Franklin Electric, Becker Mining South Africa, Jachris Hose and Couplings, Schneider Electric South Africa, Charnaud, Tubestone and AC/DC Dynamics.
According to the release, Jachris Hose and Couplings will be showcasing new product innovations from Gates such as LifeGuard, iLock and Sentry Services.
The Gates iLock is a patented, revolutionary hand torque coupling system and received the Innovation award for safety during the HPC exhibition in Katowice, Poland.
There will be lots of interest and interactive displays on the stand with live demonstrations of Sentry services, an innovative hose tracking and monitoring device built on radio frequency identification technology.
Also on display will be Sentry tags and handheld data capturing device with a link to its data repository system.
AJ Charnaud will be displaying its advanced protective clothing including the Survive-Arc, a protective wear against thermal effects of electric arc flash. Aci-Flam, another protective wear against dual hazards of flames and liquid acid splash will also be on display.
Another device to be displayed, the release states, is the Master Lock range from IB MacIntyre. The safety padlock ensures that workers will not inadvertently energise equipment whilst someone else is working on it.
Airtrax will also unveil their new air conditioning mobile evaporative cooling equipment at the exhibition, offering a more comfortable working environment by reducing heat load on workers; while heavy plant machinery distributor, BH Botswana will also showcase their equipment.
Other than manufacturing companies, University of Pretoria will be in the country to market their Project Management course, especially the newly launched Project Management for the mining industry.
It is said that the programme is designed to address specific requirements and unique attributes related to mining projects.
The release says the exhibition will link Botswana with other countries to further develop and diversify local industry and business. ENDS
