BFA rescues Sankoyo orders play off

08 Jun 2015

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has ordered that a play off between Notwane and FC Satmos be played Wednesday (June 10).

Briefing the media in Gaborone today (June 5), BFA president, Tebogo Sebego, stated that the encounter would determine the team that shall be relegated from the premier league.

Sebego said the BFA national executive committee (NEC) had exercised its powers in terms of the BFA constitution; article, 9.3.1.1. to set aside all premier league management committee resolutions made between May 29 and 31.

This included the decision to dock Sankoyo Bush Bucks 26 points, something which would have left the Maun-based side with only six points. Sebego said the premier league resolutions lacked the application of natural justice, therefore the BFA NEC had found it necessary to reverse the docking of points.

He said in their consideration, they realised that the National Appeals Board had made a decision that Sankoyo used a defaulter against Satmos and  they ordered that three points and two goals be given to Satmos, therefore BFA NEC ruled that the NAB decision should stand.

The premier league management committee had decided to dock Sankonyo 26 points, which would have meant that Ngurungu would be relegated alongside Ecco City Greens and Letlapeng, thus making Notwane and Satmos safe.ENDS
