Police VI maintain top spot

Police VI men’s team continued its winning streak in the Mascom Volleyball League by smashing both Desert Kings and BDF VI 3-0 over the weekend (May 30-31).
The double victory helped the cops maintain their position at the top the log with 16 points from six matches.
They have won five and lost one game to Kutlwano. They have now opened a three-point lead over second placed Spiking Stars.Police had an easy time dispatching Desert Kings in straight sets. They took the first set 25-1, second set 25-8 and third set 25-15 as Kings failed to match the policemen’s prowess.
The match against BDF VI was tougher, but Police showed why they should be regarded as serious contenders for the league by disposing off the hard to beat army side in straight sets. They took the first set 25-19, second set 25-16 and third set 25-21.
Second placed Spiking Stars played an electrifying game but saw their four match unbeaten run ended with a 3-1 defeat by Kutlwano. The win helped the defending champions move into fourth position on the log standings after playing five games of which they lost one game to BDF VI.
BDF VI won 3-1 against Prisons and finished the weekend sitting at position eight on the log with only eight points.
The ladies played their games on Sunday and Mafolofolo beat Kalavango 3-1 to shoot them to the top of the women’s log standings with 12 points. Despite missing some of their stars who are with the national team, Mafolofolo was organized and had an impressive block. Mafolofolo continued to attack their formidable opponents to maintain the lead. In all the four games they have played the volleyball giants have not lost.
The star-studded Kutlwano showed no mercy to BDF VI’ inexperienced players. They thrashed them 3-0.
Their experienced attackers and blockers made the game look simple. Kutlwano is second on the log with nine points. They have played three games and have won all of them.
Dynamites were scheduled to play against Kutlwano but they did not show due to internal problems. ENDS
