Ministry announces BITRI board members

Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi has appointed Dr Ditshupo Echo Maje and Ms Tekolo Maungo Modungwa as new board members of Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI).
A press release from the ministry stated that both Dr Maje and Ms Modungwa were experienced professionals who served in other various boards before.
It further said Dr Maje, who is an electrical engineer, brought a wealth of experience in that field, while Ms Modungwa is a distinguished human resource practitioner whose experience in the field was expected to boost BITRI’s board human resource expertise. Both would serve BITRI for three years, effective from June 1.
It said members of the public were also informed that Dr Martin Kebakile and Ms Keitseng Monyatsi had also been reappointed into the board for another two years, also effective from June 1.
The two whose expertise were in the fields of food technology and intellectual property respectively, would continue to add value to the board of BITRI in those fields. It further stated that as a newly established parastatal, BITRI was fully owned by government and fell under the ministry.
Its primary mandate wasto guide the national research agenda, by focusing on conducting a needs based research and delivering high standard technology solutions that maximise beneficiation of local resources for sustainable economic development. BITRI is currently based at Fairgrounds office park, Maranyane House. Ends
