Sankoyo docked 29 points relegate
31 May 2015
Sankoyo Bush Bucks have relegated to first division football after they were docked 29 points by the Botswana Premier League.
BPL chairman, Arnold Somolekae, confirmed the Maun-based club's demotion in an interview with the state owned Botswana Television on Friday (May 29).
That was after the National Appeals Board (NAB) upheld the Botswana Football Association (BFA) disciplinary committee ruling to the effect that Bush Bucks player, Morris Ruzivo, was improperly registered.
The issue surfaced after FC Satmos lodged a case with the DC in which they protested that Ruzivo was a defaulter when the two teams played against each other.
Following the NAB ruling, Somolekae said Ngurungu were docked all the points that were accumulated with Ruzivo playing, leaving them with only six and effectively seeing them end in 16th place on the table.
That also confirmed Ngurungu’s relegation to the first division after just one season in the be MOBILE Premier League. Bush Bucks signed Zimbabwean player, Ruzivo, at the start of the campaign and he was one of the best players in the club's outstanding debut in the premier league.
This was the severest punishment to have been meted out to a top flight team since Botswana's top division was transformed into the premier league in 2005. Meanwhile, FC Satmos were awarded three points and two goals. Ends
