Florah the new disco diva

With many choosing to sing loved music genres such as hip hop and traditional music to name a few, Sis Flo went for dalom-disco.
The ‘skim sa majita’ tag holder, as she is well known in Serowe, has released 11 track album titled Pelo Phuti.
Born Florah Letshwenyo, 29 years ago at Botalaote ward in Serowe, she is one of the few dalom-disco artistes in the country.
In an interview, Sis Flo said Pelo Phuti, is a dedication to Batalaote and the Bangwato at large. In the track, she praises Bangwato and cites eight prominent people of the tribe.
These are President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, former Presidents Mr Festus Mogae and the late Sir Seretse Khama, former vice-president Lt Gen. Mompati Merafhe, Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi and others.
She explained that the album is basically a dedication to the love she has for her morafe adding that Bangwato are well established and grounded in the principles of botho, discipline and dignity.
In the ninth track, Sis Flo thanks Messrs Farouk and Ram of Choppies for building their superstore in Serowe after Spar supermarket burnt down few years back. “Working with Botalaote Choppies store is a pleasure and they have done exactly what they said they would do in representing us and serving us with what we need in our day to day lives. Botalaote needs to be given flattering remarks”, she said.
The determined and focused, young woman once shared a stage with the popular South-African artist, Bujo-Mujo under a group called Versatile Unit.
Sis Flo explained that she got hooked on music at an early age while still at Motalaote Lekhutile Primary School in Serowe, where she was good at performing, especially in traditional dance, drama and karate.
However, apart from music, Sis Flo has a Certificate in Bookkeeping and Accounts as well as Certificate in Catering Services-Food and Beverages.
She says her album is doing well in the market as she has sold 300 copies since its release last year. The album was recorded locally at Shigomara Recording Studio in Serowe and produced by Mahlathini Rakhudu. ENDS
