Rollers women continue winning streak

21 Apr 2015

Township Rollers women team continued its winning streak by beating Big Sisters 3-0 in the Women’s Super League match played at Mma-Masire Ground’s on Sunday (April 19).

Although Rollers girls had played another competitive match against Kanye Swallows, which they won 1-0 the previous day, they did not show any signs of fatigue. They attacked Big Sisters from all angles and it was not a surprise when they drew first blood in the third minute through Masego Koboto.

Big Sisters tried to retaliate but Rollers were determined to earn the three points.
Tactically, Rollers girls outclassed their opponents. They were composed inside the 18-yard area, and were always first on the ball which made it difficult for the Sisters to handle them.

Gosego Lekoko extended Rollers’ lead with a beautiful shot which beat goalkeeper Marylyn John in the 15th-minute. Rollers girls continued to go forward looking for another goal, but failed to convert as some of their attempts went wide or hit the wood work.

In the 31st-minute, Big Sister’s won a free kick in a dangerous area and it was well taken by captain, Gorata Morekolodi but the Rollers keeper made a brilliant save.
Rollers went forward again four minutes later and Lekoko increased their tally to 3-0 with a cracker after receiving a perfect cross from Tlamelo Motlhale.

The game went into recess with the score board reading 3-0, but after half-time Big Sisters came with guns blazing. However, Rollers defence was compact and did not allow them any room to maneuver. In the 68th-minute, Rollers’ Refilwe Pilane missed a golden scoring opportunity when her attempt hit the wood work after doing all the hard work.

The results means that Rollers are on position three with 38 points after winning 12 and drawing two. They are yet to register a loss.
Big Sisters have played 16 games and won four, drew three and lost nine. They have 15 points.

In other games played on Saturday (April 18), Mexican Girls clobbered Meat Girls 7-1 while Untouchable was also given some football lessons by Double Action who humiliated them 7-1. On Sunday, Double Action beat Meat Girls 3-0 while Makufa also beat South East Girls 3-0. Ends
