BotswanaPost increases tariffs

21 Apr 2015

BotswanaPost will adjust services tariffs with effect from May 1, 2015.

A press release from BotswanaPost stated that this was on the backdrop of the last review undertaken in 2012 that was proving out of sync with the current market demands for sustainable postal business.

The release stated that the tariff increase extended to most postal products and services being post boxes, private bags, express mail service, letters and parcels.

It said the commonal of post boxes and private bags had increased by an average of 15 per cent. It further stated that individual post boxes that accounted for much of BotswanaPost occupancy will be increased from P145 to P167.

The letter posting across all weightage and sizes being standard, large, oversized will increase by Fifty thebe (P0.50) across board.

BotswanaPost appeals to its customers to observe that the tariff reviews are necessary to mitigate the operating costs that continue to rise and to meet the regional as well as international operating standards.

It says the tariff adjustment follows BotswanaPost’s proposal for review which was approved by the Botswana Communication Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) on the face of the ever increasing operational costs and to enable BotswanaPost to remain competitive in delivering services to its customers.

The release indicates that this pricing adjustment does not affect Local and International “Money Order Service”.  Ends
