BP0PF engages two law firms

Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund (BPOPF) has, in the past five years, engaged the services of two law firms namely Monthe Marumo & Company Incorporating Molatlhegi & Associates and Collins Newman & Company.
The Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mr Phillip Makgalemele told Parliament that the overall cost of engaging the law firms for the period April 2011 to March 2015 is P4, 117, 958.20.
Mr Makgalemele said the criteria used in engaging/ appointing a law firm includes among other things the firm’s reputation, whether the firm possess the necessary competence and experience relevant to the business of the fund and the subject matter. The assistant minister said other factors to consider are whether the firm has the requisite capacity to handle the funds matters and the reasonableness of the firm’s fee structure.
MP Noah Salakae of Ghanzi North had asked him the names of law firms engaged by BPOPF in the past five years, the overall cost incurred in engaging them and the criteria used to select the law firms. Ends
