Top of table clash Sunday

09 Apr 2015

A mouth-watering clash is expected between log-leaders Mochudi Centre Chiefs and second placed Orapa United at Molepolole Sports Complex this Sunday (April 12).

The on-form United must win this match to strengthen their late crusade for a be Mobile Premier League title.  The Ostriches’ excellent form in the second round of the league, which includes a 13-match unbeaten run, saw them emerge as odd title contenders.

Chiefs on one hand need the points to cement their position at the top and, should Magosi emerge victorious, they will open an almost insurmountable nine point lead at the top with four games left rendering the championship race all but over.

The Kgatleng giants dropped two points against BMC over the Easter Holidays and would like to bounce back and strike a killer blow against their nearest title rivals. They will definitely enter the game with the knowledge that they were going to have a tough test against the Ostriches and will surely not make the blunder of undermining Maxwell Moyo’s men.

The Ostriches are enjoying a rich vein of form and would fancy their chances of closing the gap between themselves and Magosi to three points. A United win will give them renewed optimism that they could catch the leaders and be crowned champions this season.

In another encounter to be played at Molepolole Sports Complex on Saturday at 3:30pm, Letlapeng will host Sankoyo Bush Bucks.  Letlapeng, who are facing the relegation axe, will enter the game with the motive to start their survival drive by beating Bush Bucks.

The Rock of Ages is bottom of the table with 15 points - eleven adrift of safety. However, Letlapeng have a mountain to climb and their 1-0 defeat against BR Highlanders last weekend has compounded their problems.

Bush Bucks on the other hand would like to book themselves a place in the Top 8 dome.  Meanwhile, Gaborone United will host BDF XI at Molepolole Sports Complex at 7pm on Friday (April 10).

On Saturday, Police XI will battle it out with FC Satmos at the SSKB Stadium; Nico United face BR Highlanders at Selebi Phikwe Stadium; Motlakase Power Dynamos visit Extension Gunners in Lobatse while EccoCity Greens will host Notwane at Francistown Stadium.

The games are scheduled to kick off at 3.30 pm.  BMC will clash with Township Rollers on Sunday at the new Lobatse Stadium at 3.30pm. ENDS
