The Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi, says satellite police stations have generally proved to be effective in enhancing possibility and combating crime.

He, howeve,r told Parliament that there wereno plans to establish additional satellite police stations in Gaborone due to human and material resources constraints.

He said attempts would continue to be made to resource existing stations with a view to enhancing police visibility, coverage and response.

Gaborone North MP Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked him if there are no plans to establish satellite police stations in all wards in Gaborone as they have proved to be effective in police visibility and combating the high rate of crime. Mr Nkaigwa also wanted to know which areas in Gaborone are earmarked for satellite stations. ENDS
