Letlhakane transport office faces staff shortage
09 Apr 2015
The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo, has admitted that the transport office in Letlhakane is facing challenges of shortage of staff.
Responding to a question in Parliament, he said the office space was too small to accommodate the required staff numbers.
He said his ministry had established a satellite office in Rakops and it offered driver theory tests as a way of decongesting the Letlhakane office.
“The office accommodation has proved to be a challenge as it is too small to accommodate all the required services. However, we have been allocated offices that were formerly used by the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Services (DBES),” Mr Mabeo explained.
Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister to explain whether staffing and office accommodation were adequate at Letlhakane transport office. Mr Mabeo also explained that offices from DBES would be refurbished in the 2015/16 financial year before the transport department eventually moves in.
He said services offered at the office include driver examination, vehicle examination, licensing of public cars, buses, and trucks. ENDS
