Budgetary constraints forced government to defer construction of a community sport facility and a multi-purpose youth centre in Letlhakane, Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Thapelo Olopeng, told Parliament.

He said two projects were earmarked for construction during the National Development Plan (NDP 10) but had been deferred to NDP 11.

“These projects were deferred and they will be considered along with other deferred and new projects in NDP 11,” the minister said in response to a question by MP Sethomo Lelatisitswe.

Boteti East MP had asked the minister to explain when the long promised Letlhakane sports complex, youth centre, and library would be delivered. Mr Olopeng stated that there are no plans to construct a library in the village because there is a functional community library at Letlhakane Senior Secondary School.
