Youth turn-up impressive

08 Apr 2015

An employee of Humana People to People Botswana is impressed that the youth in the Good Hope area are showing interest in testing for HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis.

Mr Tshepang Lochia said this during a recent interview in Mokgomane where the youth came in larger numbers for circumcision.

Mr Lochia said Humana, as an organisation that focused on changing the behaviour of people on health related issues, was impressed and said his organisation also assist the youth in coming up with income generating projects such as chicken rearing, moulding and knitting.

He also said they assist orphans and the less privileged with backyard gardens. A retired nurse and a farmer at Mokgomane, Mrs Seapei Tsie said there should not be more deaths caused by HIV/AIDS because the government had provided people with interventions to help prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS. Mrs Tsie urged the youth to stop having multiple concurrent partners.

Humana People to people is local non-profitable organisation working directly with the people in 70 villages in nine health districts.

It works with the most disadvantaged people to build hope, to prevent disease, to make people to stick together to fend for themselves to improve their livelihoods and general life.  ENDS
