BITC donates

Botswana Investment
& Trade Centre (BITC) has refurbished children’s ward and donated a playground to Rakops Primary Hospital.
BITC, mandated for investment
promotion and attraction, export promotion and development as well as the custodianship and management of nation Brand (Brand Botswana), also donated new born hampers for maternity ward, children welfare cards holders, television set to primary hospital , as well as old clothes to the needy.
The donation, towards Rakops primary hospital worth around P100 000.00.
Speaking at the project handing over on Friday, March 27, BITC chief executive officer, Mr Letsebe Sejoe said their gesture prove that his organization and Rakops primary hospital share a common commitment and interest to improve the welfare and wellbeing of children of Rakops village.
Mr Sejoe said the aesthetical appeal would help children’s mental growth and development. He said the decision to donate to Rakops primary hospital was to allow other vulnerable communities, far from urban areas to experience their charity and benefit from their goodwill.
By virtue of Rakops location, acts as service Centre for several neighboring villages as such more community would benefit.
After construction of Guidance and Counseling Centre at Ikageng Junior Secondary school in Metsimotlhabe previously, Mr Sejoe said they took a conscious decision to move from supporting education sector to health sector.
In his welcome remarks, the village leader, Kgosi Diane Jacob said the donation would improve the children growth and has brought development in the village. For his part, the chairperson of Boteti sub-council, Mr Solomon Cornelius expressed gratitude towards BITC donation.
Meanwhile, BITC director for cooperate communications, Ms Kutlo Moagi said in an interview that the organization contributed 80 000.00 while 20 000.00 was raised by the employees through contributions from their pockets and fundraising initiatives.
Ms Moagi guaranteed that BITC that comprises of about 95 staff complement will help all sectors and fulfill all vision 2016 pillars aspirations through their corporate social initiative.
She said they will continue to do some fund raising activities to execute their social responsibilities as their organization is government funded and is a non-making organization. ENDS
