30 Mar 2015

Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, says his ministry has not yet made considerable progress towards handing over of 48 housing units in Gaborone's Block 6 to the Ministry of Health due to a protracted contractual dispute.

Answering a question in Parliament on March 26, Minister Molefhi said following adjudication of the disputes by the Disputes Adjudication Board, they were currently going through PPADB formalities to agree on the best way to complete the project.

Mr Molefhi said the dispute, which arose during construction between the contracting parties protracted over a period of time during which progress on site was halted.

Furthermore, he said the two parties ultimately resolved to take the issue to a Disputes Adjudication Board that had since made a ruling and its decisions were effected, adding that they were in the process of procuring the services of a competition contractor.

Member of Parliament for Gaborone Central, Dr Phenyo Butale had wanted the minister to update Parliament on progress made towards the handing over of the 48 housing units in Block 6 to the Gaborone Institute of Health Sciences, and as to what caused the delay in handing over the said units.ENDS
