Oil storage project to address energy needs
29 Mar 2015
Construction of the P150 million oil storage facility at Tshele Hill in Kgatleng District will help address various energy needs in the country.
Addressing the Kgatleng District full session, council chairperson, Mr Mpho Morolong said the oil storage project started last year in November and was expected to be completed in May 2016.
He further said they were looking forward to the setup of Clean Energy Botswana at Pilane land fill. Mr Morolong said the project would be run in partnership with investment
companies through their business investment arm, Kgatleng District Development Foundation (KDDF).
He said Clean Energy Botswana would not only help augment power problems but would also solve the current challenge of waste management facing local authorities. Nevertheless, the council chairperson said the district continued to face financial challenges with serious implications on their ability to deliver more development projects.
“This therefore calls for prudent use and allocation of the meagre resources at our disposal. We need to work to ensure timely delivery of services, sharing of resources and other issues that can make a positive change to our development efforts,” said Mr Morolong.
Furthermore, he said, there was need for game changers to facilitate new and better ways of service delivery in the ever changing world of economic and social landscape. ENDS
