Setlalekgosi has classrom shortage

29 Mar 2015

Setlalekgosi Junior Secondary School in Francistown is experiencing a challenge of shortage of classrooms, chairs and desks.

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraela Goya said in Parliament that to address the problem, government would procure prefabricated classrooms and additional desks and chairs in the 2015/16 financial year.

Setlalekgosi is a 12 stream school with nine classrooms and thus has a shortfall of three classrooms, he said. He said there were two science laboratories which were used exclusively for science lessons and one Business Studies room.

Mr Goya also noted that the school hall was being used by two classes for purposes of registration in the morning and physical education lessons, while the other class used the business studies room for registration purposes.

MP for Francistown East , Mr Buti Billy had asked if the minister was aware of the adverse shortage of classrooms at Setlalekgosi to the extent that some students were using the school hall as a classroom with no desks and chairs. ENDS
