Lobatse police are investigating an incident in which a 32-year-old man was seriously injured by fire at his partner’s house at Thema II in Lobatse on March 20.
The man was identified as a Botswana Defence Force (BDF) soldier based at Sir Seretse Khama Barracks (SSKB) in Mogoditshane. Lobatse police station commander, Superintendent Balisi Ntamba said in an interview that the man was battling for his life at Bokamoso Private Hospital.
He explained that the incident was reported by Motswedi Customary Court police officers after a 30-year-old nurse at Sbrana Psychiatric Hospital called for help. He said the woman escaped unhurt and it was suspected that a dispute had ensued between the couple.
Superintendent Ntamba said fire fighters acted promptly to put out the fire before it could cause much damage to the house and household items. Investigations continue. ENDS
