Ministry considers recognising Legothwane
26 Mar 2015
The National Settlement Policy, which was revised in 2004, sets out parameters to be considered before a settlement can be considered for recognition.
The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, informed Parliament that in 2013, the ministry, through districts, embarked on a study of settlements that were provided with services and were recognised of which North West District like other districts undertook such a study.
Mr Tsogwane stated that based on the level of development in the settlement and the 2013 study undertaken by North West District, the ministry would consider recognition of Legothwane settlement.
MP for Ngami, Mr Thato Kwerepe had asked the minister when the Legothwane settlement would be gazetted as a village since it had long met all the requirements of a village. ENDS
