Expert advises workers to secure future
26 Mar 2015
Motivational speaker, Dr Ditiro Majadibodu has challenged employees of Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtsha Mines to “think beyond Orapa fence and set a foundation for a better future for yourselves and children.”
Speaking during OLDM quantum leap launch on March 24, Dr Majadibodu warned OLDM employees that they were not employed for life and hence “everything you do now do it very well because you are ploughing what you will reap in future.”
In his humorous motivational speech, he cracked some ribs when he said that some people were dead even before their time and were only awaiting doctors’ confirmation. These, he said, were people who never dream and therefore worthless.
The comical and outspoken Dr Majadibodu advised mine workers to desist from bowing to pressure and lifestyles that do not befit their stature. “When you live your life to please others everyone will be happy except yourself,” Dr Majadibodu said to raptures of laughter and applause.
“One day when you are retired or no longer working for Debswana you may stumble upon one of your pay slips and you will hate your employer,” he further said much to the approval of the audience before adding that even coming across the company car would worsen the then irresponsible workers’ woes.
He advised against too much spending of one’s salary though he conceded they have every right to their money.
Turning to students from various Orapa schools, Dr Majadibodu encouraged them to work harder and abstain from bragging and boasting about their parents’ achievements and assets. He advised that doing so would distract them from pursuing their academic excellence . ENDS
