Hostel for disabled not in use
24 Mar 2015
Parliament has been informed that the hostel for the disabled in Francistown had not been used after it was completed in 2010 because the building that houses the kitchen had not been fitted with the kitchen equipment.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said it was not desirable that completed projects should remain unutilised for long periods of time, adding that the ministry would ensure that the project did not go to waste.
MP for Francistown West, Mr Ignatius Moswaane had asked the minister if she was aware that Francistown City Council built a hostel for the disabled more than eight years ago and up to now the project had not been completed
Mr Moswaane also wanted the minister to state if the council acted properly to leave the long awaited projects to go to waste and what were the challenges which led to the non-completion of the project and failure to take remedial action. He also asked what would be done to remedy the situation.
