The wage bill for the 119 nominated councillors is P1 176 672 monthly, which converts to P14 120 064 annually and will come up to P70, 600, 320.00 for the five years they will be in office.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said in Parliament on Monday that the total projected gratuities for the 119 nominated Councilors would be P21, 960, 609.10.

She said the Councilors drew ward allowance set at the Group 4 rate which was currently set at P35, 262.00 per annum, while this was based on Recommendation 46.4 of the Constituency or Ward Grading Committee report of July 1997.

MP for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister to state the total wage bill for nominated Councilors and their total projected gratuities and whether the said Councilors drew ward allowances, if so, why since they did not have wards.
