Ministry aware of water shortage

Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila has told Parliament that his ministry is aware of water shortage at Damochojenaa and other villages within the Serule cluster.

Mr Mokaila said Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) initiated the design of a project named connection of Selebi Phikwe to Serule water transfer scheme which was aimed at ensuring sustainable and adequate supply of potable water to the population of the villages of Mmadinare, Serule, Moreomabele, Topisi, Gojwane and Damochojenaa as a long term supply solution.

He said to date the Serule water transfer scheme design is complete and awaiting funding to commence the project and in the short term, the village of Damochojenaa is being supplied with water through full time bowsing.Mmadinare MP, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila had asked the minister if he was aware that there was a serious water shortage in Damochojenaa village and if so what was being done to provide the village with a sustainable and adequate water supply.
