Maun crime rate relatively low
22 Mar 2015
Parliament has been informed that Maun has a relatively low crime rate compared to Gaborone, Mogoditshane, Francistown, Molepolole and Serowe. Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi said the detection rate for crimes committed in Maun was high compared to all most areas.
He however noted that currently police office space in Maun was not sufficient while all options were being explored to provide sufficient office space for officers including the possible use of Maun General Hospital, should it be available for use by the Botswana Police Service.
Maun East MP, Mr Kostantinos Markus had asked the minister if he was aware of the high rate of crime in Maun, if so, would he consider utilising the old Maun General Hospital infrastructure to expand the policing capacity. ENDS
