Diplomatic norms guide appointments

The procedure for appointment of ambassadors and high commissioners between two countries is guided by diplomatic norms and procedures that the affected countries have to satisfy before the appointment could be made.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi told Parliament on March 18, that no reference or declaration could be made about any appointments without breaching the international protocol governing the appointment of envoys.
MP for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister whether if it was true that a former judge had been appointed Botswana ambassador to the United States and if so were there no career diplomats to fill that position.ENDS
