Minister will not evict BDP

18 Mar 2015

Botswana Democratic Party’s (BDP) occupation of Plot 2110 dates back to 1967 and the property was used as party headquarters prior to construction of Tsholetsa House.

Answering a question in Parliament on March 17, the Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele said it was apparent that during the period of occupation, documentation relating to ownership of the plot was misplaced and regularisation of ownership was started in 2005 and was successfully concluded in the recent past.

"To this end, I have no plans to evict the BDP from the said plot as it is lawfully theirs,” he said. Member of Parliament for Gaborone North, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the minister if he was aware that the Botswana Democratic Party was illegally occupying Plot 2110 at Bontleng in Gaborone, if so, what was being done to evict the BDP from the plot as it didnot belong to them.
