Government reviews VDC allowances

Parliament has been told that government reviews sitting allowances for villages development committees (VDC) time to time.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen, said in response to a Parliamentary question that so far the allowances had been reviewed twice in October 2012 and April 2014.
He said going forward, government would review the VDC allowances as and when other allowances were reviewed.
Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the minister in view of the role played by VDC if there were no plans by government to increase their sitting allowances which had been fixed for a very long time. ENDS
