Desist from disclosing PIN to security personnel

Barclays Bank manager for Kanye branch, Mr Lucky Bonang, has urged the public to desist from soliciting assistance from security personnel engaged by the bank at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

He said, when addressing employees of the Department of Information Services on March 12, that such personnel did not form part of the employ of the bank and that any assistance required should be sought from employees of the bank. 

“Stop disclosing your personal identification numbers (PIN) to such personnel as it could breed fraud,” he said. 

He also said in a situation where the card holder was forced to disclose a PIN to a family member, the former should ensure a change of the PIN forthwith to curb fraudulent occurrences.

Mr Bonang also said ATM users should be vigilant of thieves who pried on other people’s personal transactions by shielding the ATM keypad from anyone who may be standing on the queue while transacting.He also buttressed need for employees to consider opening up savings accounts and ensuring that they stick to the original purposes of acquiring loans to avoid instances where they get derailed by things they have not budgeted for.

Any deviation from the original purpose of the loan he said could put one in further financial turmoil.

Other than deliberating on an assortment of services offered by the bank, Mr Bonang urged youthful employees to invest in property which can act as security to further secure financial assistance in future.

During his welcome remarks, Southern Bureau Wellness Committee Chairperson, Ms Mpho Mmile said financial stress is among the many barriers to a productive workforce, hence need to bring in people with financial intelligence to come drill workers on issues of finance.

Mr Tumisang Motlhamme, an employee of the department extoled Barclays Bank Kanye branch top-brass for having honored the invitation by the department.  He said in particular that the visitation has shed so much light on many financial aspects. 

“Let me also thank the regions wellness committee for its sterling performance to ensure that staff wellness is attended to,” he said in his parting shot. ENDS
