The number of eligible public officers to be housed under pool housing waiting list stands at 6 852, Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele has said.

Answering a question in Parliament, the Mr Maele said out of the number, 73 were doctors, 325 nurses and 116 were general health staff. 

Mr Maele said his ministry was responsible for pool housing while line ministries and independent institutions such as Botswana Police, Botswana Defence Force, Prisons, Teaching Service, were responsible for their respective institutional housing.

He said information on their waiting list may be obtained from respective ministry or independent institutions. Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked the minister to state the number of public servants in the country not housed by government and or the number of those on a waiting list to be housed and to state their profession.
