17 Mar 2015

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse, has told Parliament that there are 52 students sponsored by government at International Aviation Solutions.

He said government had sponsored three intakes that were enrolled at the institution and the first graduates were expected in August 2015.

The duration of the Commercial Pilot License was 18 months. He said there were two regulatory authorities responsible for quality assurance at this institution being Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA) formally known as Botswana Training Authority (BOTA) that accredited International Aviation Solution as a training institute.

The second was the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana, which was responsible for ensuring compliance with aviation regulations.

Mr Autlwetse said currently it costs over P820 000 to sponsor one student for the duration of the course at International Aviation Solutions Academy.

Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister to state the number of students sponsored by government at the International Aviation Solution Academy and the number of intakes that Government has sponsored so far.

The minister was also to state when the first graduates are expected and the duration of the course. Mr Mmolotsi further wanted to know the responsibilities for the quality offered by the school and how much it costs to sponsor one student for the duration of the course. ENDS
