What a final Mapalastina vs Moyagoleele

16 Mar 2015

A mouth-watering encounter is expected when two Gaborone giants Township Rollers and Gaborone United clash in the prestigious Mascom Top 8 Cup final next month.

Both teams, Mapalastina and Moyagoleele would be eyeing to clinch the silverware for the second time since its inception in 2011/2012 season. Rollers defeated Ecco City Greens 3-1 in 2011/2012 while in 2012/2013, Gaborone United emerged victorious after beating BDF XI 2-1.

It would be a battle between two Zimbabwean coaches, Madinda Ndlovu and Rahman Gumbo, in a game that could be dubbed the 'Gaborone derby final’.  Rollers advanced to the final after thrashing BDF XI 4-2 on aggregate, in a semi-final tie that lived up to expectations. Dirang Moloi and Jerome Louis goals separated the two teams in the second leg.

Popa would look into proving a point that they are the kings of Gaborone when they clash with the Money Machine in the final.

Popa, who have regained their momentum, would come with guns blazing and would like to settle a score against Gaborone United. Mapalastina would like to entice their fans and give them the flair they are known for and in turn fight to lift the cup for the second time and pocket P1 millon.

On the other hand, Moyagoleele should not be side-lined in that contest as they are also seeking to be crowned champions for the second time and redeem their pride they have been known for in the past.

The Reds secured themselves a place into the final after defeating Nico United 3- 1 on aggregate in a match played in Selebi Phikwe Stadium on March 15.

Gumbo’s boys would also come motivated after defeating Nico United and would strive to prove a point that they are the ruling kings of the city.

Popa should be cautious the of the Reds top man Benson Chilongo as he is likely to cause havoc. Chilongo has been banging goals for Moyagoleele in recent matches. ENDS
