During the construction of Gaborone-Tlokweng Border Post road, the roads department did not plan for nor make any provision for access into Mmaratanang ward from the Tlokweng-Zeerust Road.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, said in Parliament that the MLGRD through the South East District Council, had no plans to provide another access road into the ward as this has not been included in the projects that have been approved for funding during NDP 10.

Tlokweng MP, Ms Same Bathobakae had asked if the Minister was aware that residents of Mmaratanang ward in Tlokweng were forced to take the longer route which was the Matlala turn-off from the Zeerust road to or from their residences as that was the only route to access their residencies.

She also wanted to know if there are any plans to provide another road into this ward. ENDS
