About 400 participants to attend Chanoga pitso

22 Mar 2013

The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi says poverty eradication workshops are intended to equip and empower the beneficiaries with basic life skills and not to hand over the projects.

Mr Masisi told Parliament that following the workshops, the beneficiaries are enrolled in more technical programmes at various districts to ensure that they have sufficient skills to manage their enterprises.

He said the long term goal is to eradicate poverty through empowering communities to be viable agents of their own development so that they can contribute to the growth of the economy.

Meanwhile, the minister indicated that the anticipated total cost of the preparations for the event and the event itself is estimated at P2 million.

He said the anticipated number of officers who will attend the Chanoga Poverty Eradication Pitso is 400 from various parts of the country but largely from the North West District.

Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister to state the number of poverty eradication projects that are to be handed over at the Chanoga poverty eradication Pitso.

Mr Mmolotsi also asked him to state the anticipated cost of the preparations for the event itself and the anticipated number of officers who will attend this event and the areas in which they are based. ENDS
