Motsumi Junior Secondary School’s septic tanks were last emptied in August 2014 and will be emptied in the first quarter of 2015/16 financial year.
This was said by the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development (MoESD), Mr Moiseraela Goya, when responding to a question from Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe.
“My ministry is not aware that Motsumi JSS sewerage drains for staff houses have been overflowing for the past six years,” he said. However, he added that emptying or vacuuming of septic tanks were last emptied in August 2014 and would be emptied in the first quarter of 2015/16.
The current electrical faults, Mr Goya said would also be addressed in the first quarter of 2015/16 financial year.
Mr Lelatisitswe had asked Mr Goya if he was aware that the sewerage drains for staff houses at Motsumi JSS in Letlhakeng had been overflowing for the past six years subjecting teachers to unhealthy surroundings and that the boys’ hostels had also been without electricity for the same period. The MP also wanted to know when the situation would be rectified.
