Centres of excellence lack resources

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture is exploring ways of improving resourcing of the centres of excellence in various secondary schools.

The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraela Goya said in Parliament that the process of identifying teacher coaches to be re-deployed to man the centres of excellence was ongoing.

He, howeve,r noted that resourcing of these centres of excellence remained a challenge owing to budgetary constraints.

Tati West MP, Mr Biggie Butale had asked if the Minister of Education and Skills Development was aware that the centres of excellence in various secondary schools were not adequately equipped, if so, what steps were being taken to resource these centres with the right equipment, qualified coaches and personnel. He had also wanted to know when such resourcing could be expected.
