Public Servants must share resources

12 Mar 2015

Letlhakeng Sub-district deputy district commissioner, Mr George Mogome, has requested public officers in the district to share government resources.

Speaking at workshop organised to train Village Extension Team (VET) members, Mr Mogome said government resources should be shared to ensure delivery of services to the communities.

He stressed the need for VET members to work as a team for better results, adding that some issues could easily be dealt with by VET members without being referred to the District Extension Team (DET).

Mr Mogome also raised a concern that VET members do not attend kgotla meetings addressed by ministers, Members of Parliament and other senior government officials. For his part, the district officer for development, Mr Goaletsa Keitumetse said VET served as a communication link between the villages and the district.

He said it helps villagers to prepare and implement village development plan, adding that it also implements district annual plans and produces quarterly reports to the District Extension Team.  He also urged them to revamp VET committees and implement what they learnt from training.

Commenting, Inspector Masego Mbaiwa of Letlhakeng Police Station said transfers affect VETs due to lack of communication on replacements made. ENDS
