No need for junior secondary school in Block 8

10 Mar 2015

There is no need to construct a new junior secondary school at Gaborone's Block 8 because the three existing junior schools being Sir Seretse Khama at Block 3, Bonnington at Block 6 and Motswedi at Ledumang cater for all learners within this catchment area.

Responding to a question in Parliament, the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraela Goya, said Block 8 had one primary school with 871 learners of which 135 were in standard seven and upon completion all learners will be catered for in the existing junior secondary school.

He said as the student population grew within Block 8 catchment area additional leaners will be catered for through expansion projects within the existing schools and therefore the ministry had no plans to build a new school in the near future.

Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked when a junior secondary school will be constructed at Block 8  in Gaborone. ENDS
