Lotlaamoreng salutes IHS students

09 Mar 2015

Kgosi Lotlaamoreng of Barolong has commended the Gaborone Institute of Health Sciences students for donating a 5 000 litre tank and a sign board to the Good Hope community.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Kgosi Lotlaamoreng indicated that through the donation, students showed their love and care and in line with the vision 2016 pillar of a loving and caring nation. He also commended the Gaborone IHS students, who were on an eight-day visit in Good Hope for the good behaviour and respect for the community.

Thus, Kgosi Lotlaamoreng wished them well in their post-academic lives hence imploring them to choose Good Hope as their place of work after finishing their studies saying, “you are the most useful people in the lives of people and working with you could take Good Hope to higher places.”

One of the students, Ms Jacqueline Modibedi said in an interview that they were pleased to work with the Good Hope community. Ms Modibedi said upon their arrival at Good Hope, their aim was to identify problems in the community which they would easily resolve as part of their community health projects.

As a result, she said they donated a water tank given the shortage of water as well as the  prevalence rate of malnutrition among the children in the village.

She further indicated that they realised that most of the people were not aware that there was a clinic in the village and used the Good Hope Hospital, hence they donated the sign board directing them to the village clinic.

Notwithstanding this, she said having identified a few problems in the village, they decided to form and train a support group which would, in the main, teach parents about malnutrition. Ms Modibedi thanked the community on behalf of her colleagues for their cooperation and for welcoming them in their village.

Other students included Christabel Mulenga, Bonolo Kololo, Gorata Masire and Larona Lotshwao. ENDS
