09 Mar 2015

Kgosi Norman Bakwena of Molepolole has urged youth to develop interest in starting own businesses to curb unemployment challenges.

Kgosi Norman, who represented Kgosi Kgari Sechele III, said this at the community outreach activity hosted by the Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs recently. He also urged youth to use and benefit from opportunities availed to them by the trade and consumer affairs department.

Trade and consumer afairs director, Mrs Rosinah Bontsi said the outreach programme was part of the Ministry of Trade And Industry’s efforts to take its services to the people.

Mrs Bontsi added that the ministry was also contributing to the Vision 2016 pillar of a prosperous, productive and innovative nation through the economic diversification drive initiative.

She further indicated that the trade and industry ministry endeavoured to see Botswana as a preferred investment destination for starting businesses with ease hence the Pride Mark ‘‘Botswana our Pride Your Destination.”

She noted that business should be seen to be playing a pivotal role in line with international best practices. Mrs Bontsi therefore warned Batswana against what she said were common practices of trading without licenses and failure to comply with Tax laws.

As such, she urged Batswana to adhere to best practices in doing their businesses. Meanwhile, youth were also urged to embark on arts projects. ENDS
