Sankoyo management dismisses allegations

Sankoyo Buch Bucks management has dismissed as untrue and unfounded reports of funds embezzlement within the team.
They said the claims were baseless and aimed at tarnishing the image of the team. The issue emerged after some supporters complained that at every home game, the executive committee faced issues of missing ticket booklets.
It was reported that some supporters had taken up the issue with the police because there was no one accounting for the missing booklets.
In an interview, the team’s public relations officer, Thato Molosi dismissed the allegations saying there were no funds that had been mismanaged. He said although the team lost two booklets of match tickets, one in the first round and another one recently, “that does not mean that there is embezzlement of funds.”
Regarding the selling of match tickets, Molosi said initially they had an arrangement with some shops such as Choppies and Puma, while the executive committee also engaged some supporters to assist as most people preferred buying tickets at the gate entrance.
He said Choppies had stopped the arrangement and currently Puma is the only one selling tickets . In addition, Molosi said the treasurer and a team of four people had been given the responsibility to ensure proper management of selling and handling of finances
.
On the reported incident of missing booklet, Molosi confirmed that the police had been engaged but could not say much on the issue. The newly appointed team chairperson, Willie Dikgosana said he was not aware of such issues of funds mismanagement. He also dismissed reports as untrue and aimed to lower the integrity of the team which had been performing well.
“I joined the team two weeks back and we have never received any report of funds embezzlement within the executive committee,” he added.
Meanwhile, Maun station commander Superintendent Peter Gochela confirmed that one incident of missing booklets had been reported adding that investigations were ongoing. ENDS
