Rotary Club donates 11 wheelchairs

Rotary Club has donated 11 wheelchairs to the elderly and people living with disabilities in Bobonong.

Speaking during the donation recently, Rotary Club president, Ms Rose Smith said through their partnership with Bobonong Home Based Care, they realised the need to provide wheelchairs to the less privileged who could not walk to assist them undertake household chores.

Ms Smith said the club aimed at assisting the less privileged, disabled and the elderly with food, clothes and mobile equipment’s such as wheelchairs. For her part, the coordinator for Bobonong Home Based Care, Ms Basuti Jacob said the donation would help strengthen their corporate social responsibility.

Ms Jacob however said her organisation was faced with financial problems which hinder them from achieving some of their mandate. Kgosi Mmirwa Malema appreciated the work done by Rotary Club and said their contribution would help Botswana attain the vision 2016 pillar of being a ‘compassionate, just and caring nation.’

He also encouraged people to continue the spirit of giving as the scripture states that ‘blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives.”

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ms Martha Marumo thanked the Rotary Club for the donation, saying it would go a long way in assisting those with walking challenges. ENDS
