The national airliner, Air Botswana will launch a tip-off anonymous facility on March 11.

The airline’s communications assistant manager, Mr Thabiso Leshoai said in an interview that the company felt the facility would give Air Botswana staff and its stakeholders the ability to independently and confidentially report incidents of fraud, corruption and misconduct.

He said it was his company’s commitment to uphold the principles of good corporate governance and minimise incidents of organisational fraud and corruption.

Mr Leshoai said as an organisation they had rules, policies, regulations and have adopted industry standards that provided guidance on how the operations of the airline were conducted.

He noted, it was also known that in spite of all these protocols, people especially staff were susceptible to influence and may deviate from all these conduct business in an unethical, fraudulent and inappropriate manner.

He said the facility would give stakeholders a platform to confidentially and confidently report acts of corruption and misconduct and that would allow those who want to raise concerns anonymously the opportunity to do so.

Mr Leshoai said a very strong and tangible governance initiative clearly demonstrated board management and staff commitment to fight against corruption and also promoted a culture of honesty and integrity.

He said in addressing the challenge of fraud, corruption and misconduct, the airline developed an anti-corruption or whistle blowing policy which provided staff and stakeholders with various avenues to report any form of wrong doing in a safe, confidential and secure way. ENDS
