League games mouth-watering

04 Mar 2015

A mouth-watering encounter is expected between Botswana Premier League log Leaders Mochudi Centre Chiefs and bottom placed Letlapeng at Sir Seretse Khama Baracks on Sunday afternoon (March 8).

Fresh from a 3-1 victory against stubborn Maun based side Sankoyo Bush Bucks, Chiefs is expected to continue where they left off given that the competition for the championship has intensified.

Magosi are 47 points top of the table from 21 game, and they will be eying to increase their tally to 50 points; as such, Letlapeng have to be cautious of Magosi’s danger man, Lemponye Tshireletso, who has been banging in goals and contesting for the golden boot.

Although Tshireletso has 13 goals and is on top of the chart, undermining Letlapeng might be at their own peril since the rookies want to increase their points and avoid a possible relegation.

There is no doubt that the Ramotswa side will come with guns blazing after redeeming themselves when they defeated Gunners by one-nil last week Wednesday (February 25); a win against Magosi on Sunday will definitely be yet another morale booster.

Currently, Letlapeng are placed at position 16 with 12 points behind Ecco City greens who are on position 15 with 16 points.

In another encounter, FC Satmos will host Orapa United at the Selebi Phikwe Stadium. Orapa United are currently on forms they have tumbled Township from the second position, with just six points behind Magosi with 41 points.

United humiliated Motlakase by six goals to one over the weekend while Satmos played two all draw with BMC.

Satmos Coach Kenneth Mogae will have to re-visit his drawing board if he wants to accumulate some points and book a place in the top 8.

Meanwhile, Township Rollers will visit Sankoyo Bush Bucks at Maun Sports Complex on Saturday (March 7).

Mapalastina have been booted out of the CAF confederation Cup by Kaizer Chiefs through a three-one aggregate scoreline.

Madinda Ndlovu will be facing a tough assignment against Sankoyo which does not have respect for the so called big teams, especially when playing at their home ground.

Sankoyo will be aiming to improve their position in the log as they are currently on position eight with 30 points; they suffered a three-one defeat against Magosi recently.

On the other hand, Mapalastina will be thirsty for a win so as to try and close the seven-point gap between them and Magosi, and they would like to restore Popa’s pride and reputation.

Games between FC Satmos vs. Orapa United and Sankoyo Bush Bucks vs. Rollers kick off at 16hrs and they will be played on Saturday.

All other teams will also be in action this coming weekend. ENDS
