Maun takes networking to another level
04 Mar 2015
A networking forum called Maun Business Network (MBN) that allows professionals to network and share ideas and knowledge has been launched.
The launching was done by Fine Promotions, a branding, graphics and events company which helps its clients to best express themselves through the tools that the company creates as well as those at their disposal.
Speaking in an interview after the launch, the founder of Fine Promotions, Mr Tumisang Bogwasi said the mission of MBN is to bring the local corporate landscape together and promote leadership and professionalism through networking and sharing ideas.
The vision of MBN is to have a platform that keeps the local businesses relevant and informed.
He said they have realised that the business community had been working in silos hence their voice was not heard and their businesses not flourishing.
He however expressed that MBN would be a solution to the challenges faced by businesses.
He said the networking sessions are scheduled on a monthly basis at Maun Lodge noting that the business community would have a platform to discuss fresh/new topics with a guest speaker or panel of speakers from various industries.
Mr Bogwasi said their intention was to see businesses networking, dialogue their ideas, challenges and come up with best solutions to improve their businesses and make them successful.
“We need to think globally and try our best to penetrate the international market. We want to see Batswana owning big businesses such as Nandos and KFC,” he added.
In addition, he said the MBN does not promote competition but emphasises collaboration. He urged business owners to be smart and raise their entrepreneurship level through networking.
Mr Bogwasi said they were working hand in hand with Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM).
BOCCIM has been the vanguard and main voice of the private sector in Botswana hence the partnership adding that it has also protected the economic interests of the business community through its philosophy of constructive policy dialogue. ENDS
