Teacher encourages contribution towards PTA

04 Mar 2015

Ntebogang Junior Secondary School Pastoral Head of Department, Ms Sandra Selabo has urged parents to pay Parents Teachers Association (P.T.A) funds as it is critical for school developments.

Ms Selabo also encouraged parents to attend PTA meetings, help teachers to solve issues affecting their children, as well as cooperating with teachers on regular intervals.

She said during a price giving ceremony at Khuto Primary School recently that parents should always encourage their children to be always punctual and presentable at school.

She also advised parents to always treat children equally and avoid paying less attention to academically challenged students, rather, they should accept and be patient with them.

She also urged teachers to be professional by treating each student with love and respect and avoid verbal abuse on low performing students.

Ms Selabo emphasized that a teacher’s duty was to mould, nurture and educate students.

“Teachers should encourage students to aim high, work extremely hard and only those who work hard will achieve. Move away from comfort zones and work like a slave, cooperate with your parents and teachers,” appealed.

Sejelo Police sub-Inspector, Kamogelo Pusoeng also emphasised that the school management would fail if parents were not cooperative and supportive to their children’s education.

Sub-Inspector Pusoeng said that parents must monitor their children at all times regarding social media like Facebook as it could mislead them and that they should avoid giving pupils cellphones because they can make them lose concentration during class sessions.

He also said that great care should be taken such as monitoring the movement of their children to keep them away from the danger posed by criminals.

The best overall Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) student in Khuto primary, Mr Botlhe Sentle stated that he was the best because of the support and encouragement he got from his parents as well as doing his assignments well in time. ENDS
