Teachers election payments in process
04 Mar 2015
At least 5 336 teachers out of the 9 691 teachers who were engaged by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the 2014 General Elections have already been paid.
Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mr Eric Molale told Parliament that it is expected that the remaining 4 355 teachers would have been paid their overtime allowance by the end of the financial year on March 31.
He said currently the remaining teachers are being paid through a special dispensation that allows their payment to be effected separately from their salaries in an endeavour to speed the payment process, which is proving to be effective since the teachers are being paid in large numbers.
Minister Molale was answering a question from Ramotswa MP Mr Samuel Rantuana who had asked him to state when teachers who were selected as elections officers during the 2014 general election will be paid for the work they did. ENDS
